The Penn State Greater Allegheny campus is committed to promoting concepts of sustainability through both education and practice. Greener Allegheny aims to identify and integrate green concepts into a number of courses as PSUGA. Students are encouraged to incorporate Green practices on campus and lead student green-outreach projects in the local community. This site identifies some materials that can be integrated into a variety of courses and promote open discussion of sustainable concepts.
A faculty senate initiative has begun to promote and coordinate the teaching of various aspects of sustainability across the curriculum and across the university. This program will also review the campus initiatives on recycling and energy saving and provide recommendations to improve its efforts.
Greener Allegheny also partners with Teaching International to consider sustainability issues both locally and globally. The theme for the 2015-2016 academic year is literacy.
