We offer the quality of a nationally known university in a small campus setting, only 15 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. Penn State Greater Allegheny attracts scholars and researchers who want to share their interests and enthusiasm with undergraduates.
Penn State's four-year programs are generally designed to allow students to start a major at any Penn State campus (see the complete list of all Penn State baccalaureate majors).
We call this the 2+2 plan. Students choose their majors at the end of the second year and choose where they will complete their degrees.
Not sure about your major? Penn State offers a way to explore majors and help you decide, called the Division of Undergraduate Studies.
Students who want to complete their baccalaureate (four-year) degrees at Penn State Greater Allegheny can choose from seven majors.
To gain an introduction to a discipline or to enhance a degree program, credit certificates can also be earned.
Among the special academic opportunities at Penn State Greater Allegheny, there is an active Honors Program for students who wish to take advantage of academically enriching activities and classes. The campus also has an international emphasis, with a new global region as a focus each year. Service learning and civic engagement opportunities are a vital component of several courses at the Greater Allegheny campus, in which learning is combined with community outreach. Many faculty also offer students opportunities to participate in undergraduate research.
Various summer programs such as Penn State credit courses, pre-college programs, and youth camps are offered at the Greater Allegheny campus. High school students can get an edge on college credits as well as technology preparation.
