Songs in Stone - a film by John Houston
In this film, John Houston, who was born on Baffin Island, "tells his story: a gripping one of family, community, art and culture set against the sweeping vistas of the Canadian Arctic. It's the story of a family's love affair with the powerful landscape of the Canadian north, the close communities that dwell there and the rich culture that is born of their meeting....Houston uses childhood memories as a prism through which to see the history of the times and the fascinating and complex development of Inuit Art over the last half century." (Songs in Stone)
This film will be shown on September 30 at noon in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center and is open to the entire campus community! Parts 2 and 3 will be shown later this year.
