PSUGA Battles but Comes up Short
On Day Two of action in Titusville, Florida, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Lady Lions took on two strong Division III schools and came up short. In the first game, PSUGA fell to Alfred University, 9-1. In the game two, the Lady Lions were defeated by the University of New England, 13-8.
The Lady Lions fought hard against Alfred, trailing just 2-1 after four innings of play. However, the Alfred bats came alive in the fifth inning as they scored seven runs for the victory. Freshman Suzy Yandrlic (White Oak, PA/Serra Catholic) continued her hot hitting for Greater Allegheny, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Freshman Brittany Lewis (Orient, OH/Brewer) knocked in the lone run for GA.
In Game Two, the Lady Lions found themselves down 7-2 after three innings of play. The Greater Allegheny bats came alive in the fourth inning as the team scored five runs to tie the game. New England stormed right back with six runs of their own and went on to win the game. Freshman Erica Frye (Herminie, PA/Yough) was 3-for-3 with a homerun and three RBI's for the Lady Lions.
PSUGA will finish up their spring trip on Thursday with games against Bloomfield College and Finlandia University.
